We offer divisions for all ages and all abilities. If you just want to play and have a good time we have a league for you.

Aloha Adult Hockey Players,
The 2010 Adult Winter Hockey Season begins January 4, 2010 and will run until March 25, 2010. Each team will be scheduled for 14 games. Unless there is a major difference in registrations and divisions, teams will remain the same.
Registration Fees:
14 games @ $16.75 each = $234.50 due no later than December 26, 2009.
Payments received by December 19th will receive the early bird 10% discount $211.05
Late registration: For NEW players will be open until February 1, 2010. Players may be added to teams, space pending.
League fees will be pro-rated for "new player" late registrations.
Registration requirements:
The following MUST be submitted along with payment:
1. Completed player registration form
2. Proof of ISI payment printout. Reigster on line at www.isi.org
3. Signed waiver / Code of Conduct form
If mailing in your payment, please be sure to enclose the above forms, a check made payable to "Ice Palace" for the correct amount along with a clear photo copy of your ID or driver's license. Credit card payments over the phone are accepted only after the above forms are received by the office.
NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED. All payments must be paid by check or charge.
Non-evaluated players are eligible to register by December 17th to receive a discounted price. Although these players may not be placed on a team until after the league has started.
Evaluations are held during drop-in games and are by appointment only. Registration requirements, along with the $14.00 evaluation fee is required at least 3 days prior to evaluation date. Full equipment including a HECC approved helmet, with a full face shield and mouth guard are required. If you are unsure of our equipment policies please visit our site online or stop by the rink to pick up a brochure.
Just a reminder, the adult hockey league is a non-checking / non-contact league for recreational enjoyment. Play clean. Play safely.

Mission Statement
The Hawaiian Hockey League is dedicated to providing players of all skill levels a safe, fun and competitive place to play where the focus is on fun and sportsmanship.
Game Information
- 1 Hour games (consisting of 3 – 20 minute run time periods)
- Full protective equipment is required including a HECC approved helmet with a full face shield and a colored mouth guard
- Ice Palace Reversible League Jersey is required. Cost $41.88
- Ice Palace House Rules in conjunction with USA Hockey playing rules
- This is a non check / contact, non slap-shot recreational league.

- No players under the age of eighteen
- All players must be a currently registered with ISI Hockey. Note: USA Hockey is not accepted.

- Select Join/Renew
- Select Pay Here – Adult
- Fill out form. If you do not have an ISI number, skip over the box continue with registration.
- Print out your confirmation form to bring into the rink.
Note: Players will not be able to register without your proof of payment.
Limited Enrollment
Space is limited so enroll early. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
League House Rules
It is the responsibility of all players to know and abide by all Ice Palace Hawaiian Hockey League or IPHHL and USA Hockey rules. USA Hockey Rules can be found at www.usahockey.com.
The Ice Palace Hawaiian Hockey League, or IPHHL is dedicated to providing a safe, competitive and fun environment for adult recreational players to skate and play hockey. The IPHHL welcomes players of all skill levels, whether new to the game or returning to it, and strives to ensure that players compete with others of similar skills. To that end, IPHHL hosts league play to encourage and develop players and the love of the sport. IPHHL is sanctioned through ISI Hockey and follows rules set forth by USA Hockey.
IPHHL House Rules: All house rules will supersede any USA Hockey Rules.
The IPHHL is a non-contact/non-checking, non-slap shot recreational hockey league.
The IPHHL is committed to providing a safe league. It reserves the right to suspend, expel or otherwise prevent any player from playing that we determines, in its sole discretion, the detrimental safety of players or staff. IPHHL reserves the right to change its rules or guidelines at any time.

Drop-In and Pickup Hockey
- The cost is $14.00 per game
- All players must be current members of ISI Hockey
- All league rules will apply during pickup hockey.
- All equipment is required as stated in the league rules.
- Games are filled on a first pay, first play basis. We will not “hold” spots without payment.
- ;No refunds or credits are allowed for pickup and Drop In hockey. You may sell your “game” to another layer if the player is a current ISI Hockey member, in good standing with the rink and you call to notify the rink of any change.
- If you will be late, please call the rink to notify them of your tardiness to hold your spot. “No Shows” that are not called in may be resold by the rink to ensure that enough players are scheduled.
- All players must check in with the front office when you arrive. Players not checked in by the start of game time may have their space sold to waiting players by the Ice Palace.

Ice Palace Hawaiian Hockey League Rules
ZERO TOLERENCE :- To the referee /scorekeeping staff
- Malicious, unsportsmanlike and/or violent behavior will receive an immediate game suspension along with further disciplinary action to be decided within 30 days of incident. Player will be suspended until disciplinary action is decided.
- FIGHTING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. All fighting penalties will receive an immediate game suspension along with a minimum 90 day suspension.
- IPPHL reserves the right t review all incidents and assess further disciplinary action within 30 days if necessary. Player(s) in question will remain suspended until review is complete.

Number of Players
Each team must dress a minimum of 5 (five) skaters and one goalie for each game. Failure to dress the minimum number of players will result in a 1-0 forfeit, and the game will be played as a scrimmage. Dressing non-team players will not be permitted.
Player Evaluations
All new players to the league must be evaluated before being placed onto a team. Evaluations are held during our Adult Hockey Class on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. All protective equipment is required as per our equipment rules. The cost is $16.75 for the hour evaluation. Call ahead for evaluation dates.
Number of Games
Any player who misses 4 (four) consecutive games will be dropped from the team’s roster unless notification is given in writing of upcoming absences. Players who wish to re-join the league at a later date will be placed on a team if openings are available. Players must dress for at least 50% of a season to qualify for playoffs. Exceptions may be made in case of injury, work scheduling and/or players placed onto teams late in the season.
Refunds / Pro-rated Fees
Refunds will only be allowed for injuries with a doctors note, or work relocation. Each refund will be evaluated individually. Refunds will NOT be given for suspensions or the “3 penalty mandatory rule” games missed or for missed games. Only players entering the league late in the season will have missed games pro-rated.
Alcohol / Illegal Substances
Alcoholic beverages / and use of illegal substances will not be permitted or tolerated in the building. Any player caught carrying or consuming alcoholic beverages in the Ice Palace will be subject to a minimum mandatory 30-day suspension from the building. Suspensions will encompass all hockey activities. Players who are under the influence of alcohol / illegal substances will not be allowed to participate in any hockey activities including league games, practices, pick-up games, classes (youth or adult), or special events.
Length of Games / Tie Breakers
Total game time:
- 5 minute warm-up
- Three, 20 minute periods
- A two minute break between each period.
- All games will be played with three, 20 minute running time periods. Regular season games that end in a tie will have one shootout round immediately following the end of the game. There will be no warm-ups between the 3rd period and shoot-out.
- Each team will choose 3 players. The team with the most goals at the end of the shoot-out will win the tie. If the tie remains, both teams will receive one game point. The team that wins a shootout, two points will be awarded. The team which loses from a tie will receive one point
- Regular season games that are within two goals will be played stop time during the last two minutes of the third period. The clock will begin stop time either at the first whistle into the 2 minute mark or at the 2 minute mark if said mark is reached during a stoppage of play.
Playoffs Tie Breakers
During playoff games, in the event of a tie after the conclusion of the third period, a five (5) minute run-time sudden death period will be played after a 1 minute rest between periods. If, after this five minute period the game is still tied, a sudden death shootout will occur. During all shoot-outs all players must shoot before a team member may be repeated.
Non-Contact Rules
All games will be non-contact/non-checking. As incidental contact cannot always be avoided, the referee’s decision is final. At the discretion of the referee, a player can be assessed a MINOR or MAJOR penalty for blatant abuse of the non-contact rule.
Slap Shot
There will be NO SLAP SHOTS allowed in either league play or during warm-ups. A slap shot shall be ruled whenever a player’s stick exceeds 18” back & 15” high from the puck in an attempt to hit the puck toward the goal or in clearing the puck. In the event of a ruled slap shot (or “faked” slap shot), play will be stopped, and the ensuing face off will be held at the offending team’s defensive zone face off dot. A MAJOR Penalty will be assessed to any player who injures another player as a result of a slap shot.
High Sticking
High sticking shall be ruled anytime a player attempts to or makes contact with the puck above the normal height of the shoulder. A MINOR penalty shall be assessed to any player who makes contact with an opposing player’s helmet with their stick. Other high sticking infractions shall result in a face off held in the offending team’s defensive zone.
MINOR Penalties
- Any player assessed a MINOR penalty will be ruled off the ice for three minutes, running time, beginning when the puck is dropped after the stoppage of play. If the minor penalty is assessed during the stop time, the player will be assessed a two minute, stop time penalty. Penalties which began during running time will remain 3 minutes reagardless of the penalty extending into stop time.
- When two players are assessed coincidental penalties, both teams will play short one man, with the penalties expiring 3 minutes after the penalty begins. If there are more than one penalty on going, penalties will expire in a first in, first out system.
- Any player who receives three penalties in a game will receive a mandatory game misconduct penalty and an additional one game suspension. Abusive players who are ejected from a game will be asked to leave the Ice Palace/Stadium Mall premises immediately. Suspended /ejected players are not allowed in the team bench area.
MAJOR Penalties
- Any player assessed a MAJOR penalty will be immediately ruled off the ice for the duration of the game. Another player will serve the 7 or 12 minute penalty, during which time the team will play short handed. This penalty will not expire upon a goal being scored. The player will be assessed an additional three game suspension.
- All MAJOR Penalties incur an additional 3 game suspension plus any other penalties assessed by the rink management. The IPHHL will have 30 days in which to assess any additional penalties and suspensions. The suspended player may continue to teach youth hockey with consent from Ken Perel and John Beck. Any player assessed 3 major penalties in one season will be suspended for a minimum of one year from all hockey activities.
MATCH or GROSS MISCONDUCT Penalties
- Any MATCH or GROSS MISCONDUCT penalties will be assessed an immediate suspension from the league. The suspended player will not return to the league until further disciplinary action or clearance from the rink management.
- The penalized team must sit a man in the penalty box for 7 or 12 minutes. This man may be substituted with other players during this time.
- Fighting of any kind will not be tolerated. Any player assessed a “FIGHTING” penalty will receive an immediate mandatory 90 day suspension from all hockey activities. A FIGHTING penalty will be assessed to any player who in the course of an altercation throws any number of punches, regardless if he is the attacker or the defender in the situation.
- *USA Hockey rules state that by dropping your gloves, players will be given a fighting penalty.
- Management reserves the right to review each situation and to institute a penalty or overrule the referee if deemed necessary in extreme cases.
- Referees will not be eligible to referee while suspended from the league. Coaches for youth hockey may continue to coach with the approval of John Beck and Ken Perel.
Appeals Process
- Any player may appeal game suspensions assessed within 7 days of the penalty issued. (This does not apply to 3 penalty suspensions).
- This appeal must be in writing and sent to the Ice Palace Disciplinary Board.
- The appeal must clearly and concisely explain why the player believes the penalty was inappropriate and identify any witnesses to the event.
- IPHHL does not consider challenges to a Referee’s call to be a valid basis for an appeal.
- Under no circumstances should league representatives, officials, scorekeepers or the like be approached to discuss the penalty. Such conduct may be considered harassment and the player initiating the conduct may be penalized.
- ONLY WRITTEN appeals will be considered.
- The player will be barred from play and serve the assessed suspensions while the appeal is pending.
Damage to the Facility
Damaging or attempting to damage this facility or contents within will result in an automatic ejection from the building for not less than one year. Attempting to “damage” will include punching, hitting, swinging sticks or equipment at walls, plexi-glass, doors, machines, etc.

- No swearing or abusive language on the bench, on the ice or in the rink common areas.
- No lashing out or vulgar language to be directed to any league official / rink staff or other players.
- Anyone who receives a penalty will skate directly to the penalty box, or they may be ejected from the game.
- Fighting will not be tolerated. Fighting will result in an immediate suspension which will not be less than 90 days and may cause expulsion from the league.
- There will be no drinking of alcohol, smoking or use of any illegal substance while in the rink. Anyone suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or illegal substance will be asked to leave immediately.
- When the Zamboni drives onto the ice surface, all players will immediately skate off the ice. There is to be no sitting on the boards while the Zamboni is on the ice.
- I will conduct myself in a befitting manner at all times.
- Any player who cannot abide by the above rules may be subject to further disciplinary action which may include suspension or expulsion from the league.

I, the undersigned parent or guardian acknowlledge the inherent risks involved in ice-skating and all sports relatred thereto. Accordingly, in consideration of my child being allowed to participate in all skating activites and/or other activities at Ice Palace Ice Arena, I agree to the following:
1. I acknowledge and fully understand that my child will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury which may result not only from my child's actions but also from action, inaction, negligence of others, and further that there may be risks not known to me or not reasonably foreseeable.
2. On behalf of my child, I assume all the foregoing risks and accept personal responsibility for my own damages following such injury.
3. On behalf of my child, I release, waive, discharge, covenant not to sue Ice Palace Ice Arena amd all their respective Agents, Affiliates, Associates, Officers, Directors, Owners, and Employees (Collectively Releases) from demands, losses, or damages on account of any injury, death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by releases or any other party's actions, inaction, or otherwise: and agree to indemnify releases from any and all third party claims caused in whole or in part by my child's action.
I have read the above Waiver and Release, and understand that by signing below I have given up substantial rights on behalf of my child.
